Review: Luminance Skincare
As an ethical vegan, shopping for skincare has always been like searching for a needle in a haystack. You want something cruelty free, not full of chemicals (which, ultimately, will do your skin more harm than good), and something that will actually TAKE CARE of your skin.
Luminance Skincare contacted me several weeks ago asking if I was interested in giving their products a try. I had a cheeky peek through their website: Vegan. Organic. No Toxins. No Synthetics.
Too good to be true? I had to know if it would work on my skin. Because my skin is tough to please. It's allergic to almost everything and throws tantrums (i.e. breakouts) when I load the wrong stuff (makeup, crap skincare, face paint, more face paint) (I like face paint) on it.
I was sent three products to try: the delicate facial cleanser, rosewater toner and a moisturiser. Which I have now been using exclusively for two weeks. And the verdict?
First off: The cleanser. You have to give it a good shake before spritzing it on your skin. Because it has zero of those nasty chemicals which stop separation. Also, it is a fancy yellow (which does NOT turn your skin yellow à la a turmeric face mask). Lather it on, it is perf for delicate skin (hands up!) and when you rub it into your face you just know it's full of goodness. And it shows, too.
The toner contains only one ingredient. Organic rosewater. Rosewater is fab for your skin. It soothes and cools irritated skin, balances oily skin, rejuvenates mature skin. Basically: whatever your skin type, rosewater is your friend. Your best friend. I started spritzing it on my skin every now and then throughout the day just to freshen up. It's a great moisturiser and tightens pores. And smells AHHHHMAZEE.
The moisturiser smells heavily of lavender. And I love lavender. Not in a sweet, overwhelming way. But very earthy, natural, musky. And, boy, is it hydrating. My skin was always dry, especially around my nose. But after week one of using the moisturiser I found that my skin was basically flaky-skin-free. yay! We like this moisturiser.
So all in all, I am in love. Skincare that is good for bunnies, the environment and Sasha? Win, win. Win. I have been doing more poking around their website and apparently they have new vegan lip balms.
Needless to say, I am making another massive order soon.
